Study visit of CFAP’s Smallholders to the Participatory Guarantee System Site in Siem Reap

From 16th to 18th of December 2019, The Cambodian Farmer Federation Association of Agricultural Producers (CFAP-Cambodia) organised a study visit of farmer members come from Svay Rieng, Prey Veng, Kampong Thom, Siem Reap and Kampong Cham to visit how farmers in Siem Reap grow vegetable following the Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) for supplying markets in Siem Reap.

The study visit had facilitated by GRET Cambodia base in Siem Reap and CFAP’s chairwoman. The study visits aimed to improve vegetable production through the Participatory Guarantee System, therefore small scale farmers can apply at their respective farms when they came back to their villages. Smallholders expected that they can get better price when they apply a new technical protocol following the PGS.

In order to ensure that small scale farmers as members are capable to follow the technical protocols, therefore CFAP needed to seek for funding to provide technical training to farmer members in particular the Agri-Business Advisors base at all farmers’ organisations in 12 provinces/municipalities in Cambodia.
