JOINT MEETING OF THE GLOBAL STEERING COMMITTEE OF THE FARMERS’ FORUM, THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE FORUM AND REPRESENTATIVES OF THE YOUTH ALLIANCE!

On 19 January 2023 there was a meeting of the Global Steering Committee of the Farmers’ Forum, the Indigenous People Forum and representatives of the Youth Alliance. CFAP’s managing director and WFO Board member for Asia and as a member of the Global Steering Committee of the Farmers’ Forum, the Indigenous People Forum and representatives of the Youth Alliance participated in the important meeting which participated by other farmers’ forum constituency come from a across the world, 19 participants in total.

The key discussion point was the involvement of Civil Society Organization in IFAD13 replenishment.

The IFAD13 focuses strongly on engagement of civil society organization included farmers’ organizations, indigenous peoples’ organizations and youth and other community based organizations inline with IFAD people centered approach, aimed at increasing vices of civil society organizations.

After various round table discussion, therefore comments were raised by the participants included access to funding support to conduct action plans, roles of observation to the IFAD executive board, involve farmers in the country project/program design process such as COSOP.

The meeting came into a conclusion with the three constituencies for IFAD13 consultation should have been included i.e. farmers’ organizations, indigenous peoples’ organizations and youth alliance. Next action plans for engagement of the farmers’ organizations, indigenous peoples’ organizations and youth alliance in the IFAD13 partnership. Further discussion on engagement with key partners will be conducted accordingly.
