Cassava is facing problem on processing in Cambodia!

Cassava is grown by smallholders in rural Cambodia. Due lack of sufficient capital to expand production and processing, therefore almost all smallholders who grow cassava in Cambodia sell fresh cassava with very low price i.e. 200 (USD0.05) to 300 riels (USD0.075) per Kg to buyers come from neighboring countries. Cambodia farmers are capable to produce about 13 to 15 million tonnes annually on the land size of about 700,000.00 ha. CFAP Cambodia realized that smallholders needed capital and knowledge on processing/packaging for sale with better price in the future. In this regard, we would appeal to development partners to focus on development of cassava production for smallholders in Cambodia to ensure that smallholders can continue to grow cassava for sale and support their families to survive and sending their children to schools better.
