Linking local produces to markets is key toward sustainable food systems, healthy food and better livelihoods of the rural people!
A floating market or weekly market organised weekly at some of the AIMS target provinces in Cambodia, AIMS project/programme funded by IFAD and the Royal Government of Cambodia, the Ministry of Commerce is an executor. CFAP members’ organisations (Producers’ associations and agricultural cooperatives) got opportunity to present their products weekly to clients in Siem Reap, Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, Pailin and Kampot provinces town centers. This agri-business model is responsive directly to the needs of smallholders and members’ organisations. Collective purchases from smallholders by producers’ associations and agricultural cooperatives got interested by farmer members as they think they can continue to do farming with sustainability because they have markets for sales of their produces.
CFAP Cambodia involved in this project and provided a role as the value chain investment specialist (VCI).
Simultaneously, CFAP is developing her project to engage farmers with clients and companies to help expanding markets broadly for farmers, especially smallholders toward sustainable food systems, healthy food and better livelihoods of the rural people.
