IFAD SUPERVISION MISSION TO CAMBODIA IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE AIMS PROJECT!
On 22nd of August 2022, the project management office (PMO) of the Accelerating Inclusive Markets for Smallholders (AIMS) organized a supervision meeting led by H.E Mr. Sarith Sakura, the project manager on behalf of the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) and IFAD Supervision Mission Team led by Ms. Girija Srinivasan. CFAP represented by Mr. Sok Sotha was invited to participate in the meeting to represent farmers’ organizations and as a partner to provide the Value Chain Investment Specialist (VCIs) partly for this project. There are representatives come from development partners, Ministry of Economy and Finance, private sector, NGOs and project consultants. AIMS the project funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) (US$36.3 million) and the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) (US$8.6 million) or equivalent to approximately of US$45 million with the total budget of US$61.6 million at design included money from from a private sector and beneficiaries for a period of 6 years (2017-2023).
There were various presentations of the project progress made accordingly by the project management team of the project management office (PMO) of the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) to the IFAD Supervision Mission Team and Partners. AIMS focused mainly value chain and connection farmers to markets by strengthening several commodities of smallholders such as backyard chicken, rice, vegetable, cassava and silk.
CFAP within this project has engaged members’ organizations base at all three regional hub offices (Hub#1, Hub#2, Hub#3) additionally to its responsibility at Hub#3 to ensure that all members’ organizations involved directly in the project. Currently, AIMS operates in 18 provinces in Cambodia.
