ASIA PACIFIC REGIONAL DIALOGUE ON UN DECADE OF FAMILY FARMING: leveraging the role of family farming towards more inclusive and resilient food systems in response to crises held on 29 June, 2022 virtually. !

On 29th June 2022, CFAP’s managing director, and a Board member of the WFO for Asia in the APR FAFO participated in the Regional Dialogue on the UN Decade of Family Farming in Asia and the Pacific: leveraging the role of family farming towards more inclusive and resilient food systems in response to crises held on 29 June, 2022 virtually.

UNDFF initiated jointly by FAO and IFAD 2019-2028, from now this programme remained only six years to go while the world is facing lots of new challenges during this meanwhile i.e. climate change, covid-19 and war of Russia in Ukraine. According to a history of communication with key people this regional dialogue will feed into the global dialogue that will be held in September 2022, therefore inputs from the regional organizations and global organizations that represent all kinds of farmers, fishers, pastoralists, livestock farmers, indigenous people and some other kinds of farmers that can contribute to the global dialogue on UNDFF.

The Asia and Pacific Regional Dialogue on UNDFF has encouraged multi speakers in the APR from government, civil society organizations, partners and UN agencies through their great intervention of their points of views and presentations aimed at sharing information, action plans, concerns, knowledge, experiences and challenges of the family farmers to meet the global goal by 2028 while increased threats for family farmers and farming communities more and more from climate change to covid-19 and war in Ukraine. Climate change, covid-19 pandemic and regional conflict Ukraine and Russia caused further problems heavily for family farmers to contribute to food security, nutrition and sustained agriculture in the food systems and value chain and more than our realizations.

From a farmer side, we would valuate highly for importance of the APR Dialogue on UNDFF and wished that partnership amongst multi stakeholders (Government, Civil society organizations, Partners and UN agencies) in the food systems and value chains would accelerate the programme to meet the goal by 2028.
