Consultation workshop on public awareness raising on CamGAP and CamORG standards and Certification Procedure!

Cambodia remained rural society and majority of farmers are smallholders with limited capacity on agriculture improvement to meet increased food demands, however the country had expressed strong commitments to reach safe and nutritional food production by new pathway of improving agriculture production by focusing on agriculture standards.

On 28th May, 2021 the Plant Protection, Sanitary and Phytosanitary Department, General Directorate of Agriculture (GDA) of the Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) organised a consultation workshop on public awareness raising on CamGAP and CamORG standards and Certification Procedure.

From farmers’ perspective we think networking amongst relevant stakeholders in the value chains (Farmers’ Organisation, Private sector, Development Partners (DPs), Government and Family Farming (FF) will reach the global goal by 2030 as we come and work closer to enable farmers to get access to information for better preparation in advance.

Agriculture standards, however they are a bit complicated at first as it is required farmers to follow the technical protocols and recording of all farming practices, it is completely new for most smallholders in least developed countries and developing countries, therefore education, building market structure from farms to consumers and institutional strengthening are needed.
